Thank you for purchasing a custom wood countertop from Urban Furniture Company. Our goal is to create a handcrafted, one-of-a-kind custom piece that will last generations.
All hardwood creations are finished with TIMBERGLASS™, which is a proprietary finish of ABB and cannot be found elsewhere. Timberglass Wood Finish is designed to be highly durable, crystal clear, low-build coating that is resistant to water, bleach, chemicals, and scratches.
We believe in keeping the natural look and feel of the wood.
Table and Wood Countertop Care
All wood creations that are finished with TIMBERGLASS™ are sealed, waterproof, and food-contact safe.
- Do not cut directly on the wood top.
- Use dish soap and water to clean up any spill or food. A wet paper towel works fine.
- Do not drag, push, or pull anything on the wood surface. Unglazed pottery will scratch the wood top. Using a protective pad underneath will help avoid accidental scratching. Be cautious of anything with a sharp edge.
- Do not expose the top to excessive heat. If it's too hot to hold in your hands, use a trivet.
- TIMBERGLASS™ is resistant to basic household chemicals, but solvent-based chemicals such as superglue or nail polish remover will damage the finish.
Butcher Block Countertop Care (Mineral Oil Wax Treatment)
- For the first week, oil daily.
- After the first week, oil weekly.
- After oiling weekly for one month, oil monthly.
- Do not expose the top to excessive heat.
- Keep surfaces clean with a soft scrub and mild soap.
- Keep any surfaces that constantly come in contact with water oiled to prolong the life of the wood.
- If minor damage occurs to your top, it can be lightly sanded and re-oiled to look new again.
- Do not use any other type of oil to treat the surface, as it could create bacteria in the wood top.
- We recommend Howard Butcher Block Oil and Conditioner for maintenance.
